SUCCESSES:
- I'm super happy I decided to do the two colour ways, although it was a bit more work it makes them look pretty different, even there are only two colours that aren't the same
- I think it fits the theme 'craving colour' well. the image feels energetic which was what I was going for
- I quite like how busy they are, I was worried the imagery might be too over-powering although now I think it adds to it
- I'm also glad I left a couple of the backgrounds of the figures blank, as initially I had them mocked up so they were all full of colour; but it definitely evens out the print more
- I like each of the figures individually as well as a whole image. usually when i create an image with a lot of different elements i find it difficult to like every part of it, but this is probably my favourite piece of work i've made to date
- i'm surprised how well the registration came out considering there are 5 different colours on each print. again, this is something that took a bit longer but is definitely worth it. i've noticed with screen printing that to make a nicer print you do have to spend longer on certain parts of it!
FAILURES?
- I think a couple of the colours are slightly too similar tone wise. for example, the pale pink and the yellow don't stand out too well against each other
- Although I think it makes a nice print, I suppose there isn't really too much narrative behind it. I feel like it could look good as a poster of some sort so maybe this is something I should have thought about while I was designing it
- I don't know how strong the submission will be to batsford, I do feel like it fits the theme but I think it should have more of an idea behind it.
