Banger Magazine 2.0: HAIM

I decided that if I was only going to do one of the artists for Banger I wanted to do HAIM (i'm still going to try and aim to do a couple but not sure whether i'll have the time), anyway, I thought haim would be quite a fun one to do as I can include figures to represent the three of them. I also thought it would be a good opportunity to change up the colours i use, and use brighter pinks alongside reds & purples as these were the colours I saw a lot of when I was looking at pictures of them.

Below is my initial sketch, I wanted to keep it pretty simple as I think this works a bit better alongside a lot of text and makes it stand out a bit more.

I did have the idea of creating it in just a single coloured outline to begin with, but I was just testing out ideas to begin with really. I had free range with the colours, but Ellie had mentioned the background would probably be yellow so I chose red as I thought it contrasted nicely.

FINAL ILLUSTRATION

  • this is my final illustration I decided to go for. luckily it was quite easy to get it exactly how I wanted it as I was already pleased with the initial sketch, so it was just a case of getting the colours right
  • I wanted to use these colours as, as I said previously, I saw these colours a lot when I was researching haim. they are also quite fun and I think they bring it alive a bit
  • I did spend a while changing round the colours. I think I was forgetting that I was able to use white as a colour because it was going to be on a coloured background, so as soon as I added it I think it balanced out the image
  • I'm actually really happy with this and i'm excited to see it in the magazine! when I sent a preview to Ellie she said the colours would be great alongside the rest of the pages contents
